Royals’ Tim Collins sent to Omaha for rehab assignment

After a detour at Progressive Field, Royals lefty Tim Collins is bound for a rehabilitation assignment. He will join Class AAA Omaha this weekend in New Orleans.

Manager Ned Yost indicated Collins, who has a flexor strain in left arm, would require at least two appearances before the club would consider recalling him.

“We need to check his arm, make sure it’s strong and durable and ready to go,” Yost said before Wednesday’s game against the Indians. “We need to make sure he’s commanding his fastball, his curveball and his changeup. He’s a big part of our ’pen, but he still has to get back to where he’s performing at the level’s he’s accustomed to performing at up here.”

Francisley Bueno, who has a bruised left pinky, still feels discomfort when he throws his changeup. He will throw another bullpen session on Friday.
