Another rough night for Class AAA Omaha

Nashville’s Jimmy Nelson and Brent Leach combined on a seven-hitter Monday night as the Sounds won 7-0 at Class AAA Omaha.

Nelson went seven innings and allowed the two hits with one walk and nine strikeouts. Leach retired all six batters he faced, including three by strikeout. It was the second game in a row that Omaha struck out a dozen times.

John Lamb gave up four runs (two earned) on six hits in 4 1/3 innings. He walked four and struck out four. Cory Wade allowed three runs in 2 2/3 innings. Donnie Joseph pitched two hitless innings, but he walked four.

**Class A-Advanced rallied from a 7-3 deficit and tied the game, but allowed a run in the bottom of the ninth and lost 8-7 at Myrtle Beach. The Blue Rocks were down four when Johermyn Chavez’s fielder’s choice scored Hunter Dozier in the seventh inning. Jack Lopez’s doubled scored Chavez. In the eighth, Dozier’s RBI single scored Terrance Gore to make it 7-6. In the ninth, Daniel Rockett scored on a passed ball as Wilmington tied the game. In the bottom of the ninth, the first two Pelicans singled against Kyle Bartsch. Mark Peterson relieved and an error loaded the bases. Jorge Alfaro’s single then won it.

**Jason Adam gave up five runs (four earned) on 10 hits in five inning as Class AA Northwest Arkansas lost 5-2 to Springfield. Adam didn’t walk a batter and struck out five. Second baseman Whit Merrifield, center fielder Lane Adams and right fielder Jorge Bonifacio each had two hits.

**Left-hander Luis Rico gave up five runs on nine hits in five innings in Class A Lexington’s 6-4 loss at Hickory. Shortstop Humberto Arteaga had three hits, while right fielder Elier Hernandez, first baseman Samir Duenez and designated hitter Mauricio Ramos each had a pair of hits. Dominique Taylor hit a two-run triple in the ninth.
