Wild pitch caps wild win for Class AAA Omaha

Second baseman Johnny Giavotella scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 10th inning as Class AAA Omaha won a wild 7-6 game against Nashville on Sunday.

The Storm Chasers led 6-3 in the top of the ninth, but after Ramon Troncoso got the first two outs, he gave up a single, double and then a three-run homer that let the Sounds tie it.

Giavotella led off the 10th inning with a single and took third on Carlos Peguero’s single. Michael Blazek then uncorked a wild pitch and Giavotella ran home with the winning run.

The wild pitch proved to be a key means of scoring for the Storm Chasers. Brett Eibner scored on a wild pitch in the eighth inning and Christian Colon scored on one in the seventh. Colon, Matt Fields and Jason Donald all hit a sacrifice fly as well.

Starter Aaron Brooks gave up three runs on four hits in five innings. Chris Dwyer pitched three scoreless innings, allowing just one hit. Casey Coleman pitched a scoreless 10th.

Giavotella had three hits and is batting .400.

**Myrtle Beach roughed up left-hander Sean Manaea as Class A-Advanced Wilmington lost 7-1. Manaea gave up all seven runs in two innings. He allowed seven hits, didn’t walk a batter and struck out three. Third baseman Hunter Dozier and designed hitter Zane Evans each had two hits.
