Brett Eibner has nine RBIs as Storm Chasers win 20-3
Class AAA Omaha starter Chris Dwyer allowed three runs in five innings on Wednesday and got the win against Memphis.
Truth is, after the first inning it would have taken a complete meltdown by Dwyer for him not to get the victory, because Omaha pounded out 29 hits and won 20-3.
Every Storm Chaser had at least one hit and scored one run. Brett Eibner was the biggest star, as he went five for five with nine RBIs, two home runs and a double.
The nine RBIs are a Werner Park record, according to the Storm Chasers. Current Royals catcher Brett Hayes had seven RBIs last April 14. The team said the 29 hits were also a stadium record.
Eibner opened Omaha first by drawing a walk and finished the eight-run inning by crushing a three-run home run. He added another three-run homer in a six-run sixth inning.
Eibner tweeted: “Appreciate all the love.. But we did bang out 29 hits as a team!”
Indeed there were other impressive outings.
First baseman Matt Fields went five for six and scored three runs, while right fielder Paulo Orlando and catcher Jesus Flores each had four hits. Second baseman Christian Colon and shortstop Jimmy Paredes each had three hits and a home run.
OTHER GAMES• Myrtle Beach scored four runs in the first inning against Class A Wilmington starter Yender Caramo and held on for a 4-3 victory. Right fielder Johermyn Chavez had two hits, but flied out to end the game with the tying run on first. Trailing 4-1 in the ninth, Wilmington saw Terrance Gore walk to lead off. He stole second and took third on a bunt hit by Raul Mondesi, who then stole second.
Bubba Starling’s ground out scored Gore and Hunter Dozier also grounded out. Cam Gallagher had an RBI single, but Chavez flied out to end it.
• Jake Junis gave up three runs (one earned) in four innings and took the loss as Class A Lexington was beaten 5-2 by Rome. Junis walked one and struck out six. The Legends had just three hits in the game.
