Royals’ series finale Thursday in Detroit is postponed because of rain

The final game of the Royals’ season-opening series with the Tigers on Thursday was postponed because of rain in Detroit.

According to the Tigers, the game was rescheduled for a 12:08 p.m. first pitch on June 19, an off day for both teams following a three-game series in Detroit.

Jeremy Guthrie will still start the home opener on Friday. Royals manager Ned Yost declined to say how he would deploy Yordano Ventura, who was scheduled to start on Thursday.

Coleman update

An update on reliever Louis Coleman: He pitched a side session to test his bruised right middle finger on Wednesday. Yost indicated he should throw an inning in a minor-league game by Saturday.
