Infante remains in Arizona as Royals get set to play at Milwaukee
With Opening Day three days away, Royals second baseman Omar Infante remained at the team’s complex in Surprise, Ariz., on Friday, where he is recovering from a bone spur in his right elbow.
Manager Ned Yost originally intended for Infante to play in a minor-league game on Thursday, then fly to Milwaukee for a two-game exhibition against the Brewers. Asked if Infante would join the club this weekend, general manager Dayton Moore told The Star that Infante was still at the complex on Friday.
“We will see” he said.
If Infante needs to start the season on the disabled list, both Pedro Ciriaco and Jason Donald are contenders to replace him. Donald is on a minor-league deal, and must be added to the 40-man roster.
