Royals’ Alcides Escobar held out of game because of 'minor' shoulder soreness
The Royals scratched Alcides Escobar from Tuesday’s game against the Dodgers because of what a team spokesman called “minor soreness” in his right shoulder.
Escobar played in a minor-league game as a designated hitter earlier in the day. After he completed that game, the team elected to hold him out of this afternoon’s contest.
The team insisted Escobar only experienced a minor issue, and he would be able to play in a regular season game.
His middle-infield partner, Omar Infante, recently missed 11 days in the field due to a similar issue. Infante returned to action on Monday, and is starting at second base again on Tuesday.
