Royals to give John Lamb a start this weekend

A few quick notes from the morning, unrelated to Luke Hochevar’s injured elbow:

Jeremy Guthrie will pitch a simulated game against Royals minor-leaguers on Saturday morning. In his place, John Lamb will start for the big-league squad on the road against Milwaukee.

“You want to try to give all these guys opportunities to pitch in big-league games,” manager Ned Yost said. “We’re getting to the point now where we’ve got a lot of arms. My focus for Jeremy is to get his work in. And give Lamb a shot to go over there and pitch two, three innings.”

Omar Infante (shoulder inflammation) is back in the lineup. He’s not in the field. But Yost is confident in Infante’s health.

Alex Gordon fouled a ball off his shin on Tuesday, but his day off on Wednesday was scheduled. Yost insists he is fine.
