The Royals reinstated All-Star outfielder Alex Gordon from the disabled list before Tuesday’s game against the Detroit Tigers at Kauffman Stadium.

Gordon, who was running sprints in right field during the afternoon, was scheduled to start in left field and bat sixth. He had been on a rehab assignment at Class AAA Omaha since Aug. 23. Gordon had been on the disabled list since sustaining a plus-two groin strain in a July 8 game.

The Royals won that game, improving to 49-33, and went 31-17 in his absence.
