Seratelli signs with Mets

Sad to see Anthony Seratelli sign a minor-league deal with the New York Mets on Friday (he announced it on Twitter). I’d hoped he would get a shot one day with the Royals, but it obviously didn’t happen.

Seratelli played every position except center field and catcher, during his seven seasons in the Royals organization, all in the minors. He was the ultimate underdog. After playing in the Frontier League in 2006, Seratelli went to a Royals tryout camp in February 2007 and earned a contract.

In his last two seasons with Class AAA Omaha, Seratelli had a combined slash line of .286/.385/.452.

Seratelli is one of 21 minor-league players in the Royals organization who are free agents. Here is the list via Baseball America:
