Royals outfielder Alex Rios sat out his second game in a row on Sunday due to a virus.

Manager Ned Yost indicated it was unlikely Rios would be ready to play by Tuesday, when the Royals begin a nine-game homestand against the Tigers, White Sox and Twins.

"It’s probably going to be a little while," Yost said.

Rios was scratched shortly before Saturday’s game against the Rays. The illness arrived at an unfortunate time, as Rios had recently begun to heat up at the plate. During his last eight games, Rios went 13-for-29 with a 1.069 on-base plus slugging percentage.
