Salvador Perez returns to Royals’ lineup against Angels
Catcher Salvador Perez returned to the Royals lineup on Saturday after sitting out three games to rest his sore left wrist. The team doctors cleared Perez to rejoin his teammates on Friday afternoon.
“He felt much better,” manager Ned Yost said. “Went in and took some swings. Felt good, looked good.”
Perez initially injured his wrist last week on a series of foul tips. The collision at the plate in Tuesday’s game against Detroit aggravated the condition.
In Perez’s absence, Drew Butera started behind the plate. Butera notched an RBI single in Friday’s victory over the Angels.
But Perez is expected to reclaim his usual workload now that he’s been allowed to play.
“We’ll just continue to monitor it, and see how he’s doing,” Yost said.
