ESPN isn’t dumb.

It’s not a stretch to think the Royals’ series against the Angels in August could be a playoff preview. That’s why ESPN and Major League Baseball announced Wednesday that the Royals’ game against the Angels on Aug. 16 at Kauffman Stadium has been selected to be the network’s “Sunday Night Baseball” national game of the week and will feature a 7:08 p.m. start.

The game, which was originally scheduled for a 1:10 start, will be the Royals’ second appearance on Sunday Night Baseball this year and second Sunday Night home game in as many seasons.
