The Royals will have only one more opponent this season.

It will either be the cross-state rival St. Louis Cardinals or the NL Wild Card San Francisco Giants.

The Giants lead the Cardinals 3-1 in the National League Championship Series.

But that’s not an inescapable deficit. The Giants came back in 2012 down 3-1 in the NLCS against the Cardinals and went on to win the World Series.

The Royals went 3-1 against the Cardinals this year during interleague play and 3-0 against the Giants.
