Royals’ Lorenzo Cain shares American League player of the week award
Royals outfielder Lorenzo Cain was chosen co-player of the week in the American League, along with fellow All-Star Dallas Keuchel, a starting pitcher for the Houston Astros.
Cain batted seven for 17, an average of .412, with two home runs, three RBIs and three runs scored last week. One of the homers was a game-winner: his 13th-inning blast on Saturday against the White Sox in Chicago.
Keuchel won his only start last week, striking out 13 in seven scoreless innings.
According to Major League Baseball, Cain is leading the AL in on-base percentage (.509), slugging percentage (.843) and OPS (1.352) in July.
