The Royals will seek their seventh straight victory Saturday afternoon against the Toronto Blue Jays. Friday night's game finished after midnight because of a two-hour-plus rain delay, so Royals manager Ned Yost gave Salvador Perez and Lorenzo Cain the day off.

"Asset protection is all that is," manager Ned Yost said. "They're so valuable to our team, now that Gordy's not here, we cannot lose one of those guys."

The Royals sent right-hander Chris Young (7-4, 2.89 ERA) to the mound on three days’ rest. Left-hander Mark Buehrle (9-5, 3.38 ERA) started for the Blue Jays.

First pitch was scheduled for 1:10 p.m. on Fox Sports Kansas City.
