Royals third baseman Mike Moustakas left Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Twins in the sixth inning because of a family emergency, Royals manager Ned Yost said.

It was the second time this season a family emergency has led to Moustaka’ absence.

Moustakas missed a weekend series against Detroit two months ago after he was placed on the bereavement list on May 8 for an undisclosed issue.

Dusty Coleman took Moustakas’ spot in the third and struck out against the Twins’ Ervin Santana in his first major-league plate appearance.
