Lorenzo Cain returned to the Kansas City lineup on Friday after sitting out Wednesday’s series finale against Seattle with a sore left hamstring.

"I’ve been getting a lot of treatment on it," Cain said before Friday’s game against the Athletics. "But I’ll give it a go tonight. Right now, it feels really good."

Cain felt a tweak in his hamstring Tuesday while making a running catch.

Manager Ned Yost wanted to be careful with Cain, who has had a variety of leg ailments in his career.

"It was more precautionary than anything," Yost said. "He could have played the other day in Seattle. But with an off-day coming up [on Thursday], I wanted to give him two days, with the benefit of only missing one game. He’s ready to go."
