As expected, the Royals reinstated left-hander Danny Duffy from the disabled list ahead of his start Wednesday night against the Seattle Mariners.

To make room on the roster for Duffy, who was out with left biceps tendinitis, the Royals optioned right-hander Michael Mariot to Class AAA Omaha.

Duffy is 2-3 with a 5.87 ERA. Mariot tossed two innings on Tuesday night at Seattle, allowing a run on one hit with a walk and one strikeout.
