Royals win boosts TV ratings over last year’s opening playoff game
The Royals’ 9-8 victory over the Oakland A’s in 12 innings in the Wild Card Game, out performed both of last year’s Wild Card contests in TV ratings.
The game at Kauffman Stadium drew a 3.8 rating on TBS. The same network drew a 3.4 for the Pirates-Reds game last year.
According to Nielsen, the Kansas City market delivered a 30.3 rating, and it peaked at 33.6 from 11:45 p.m.-midnight.
In the Oakland-San Francisco-San Jose market, the game drew a 9.9 rating.
