Letters: Readers discuss coronavirus leadership, Radio Sputnik and Obama’s flip-flops

All about him

The current ratcheting up of the public’s fears over a possible pandemic is exactly the kind of crisis those of us who have been paying attention have worried about for some time. No, it’s not the coronavirus — it’s the person in the Oval Office.

The president is ignorant, duplicitous, incompetent and solely concerned with how it affects him, the stock market and his reelection campaign.

The country and the world need strong, secure leaders when a potential crisis looms. How can anyone believe anything that comes out of his mouth? I know I can’t. He will try to spin, downplay and deflect blame when his deep inadequacies become blatantly apparent.

I dread what awaits us with this “leader.” Just watch.

No comparison

I was shocked and disappointed that the author of a Feb. 23 letter to the editor would compare the Russian government’s Radio Sputnik program in Kansas City to Radio Free Europe. (16A)

As stated in the editor’s note with the letter, Radio Free Europe broadcasts to areas where free press is banned or restricted. That’s not the case in the United States — at least not yet.

Still own it?

Last week, former President Barack Obama was taking credit for the economy. I wonder if he still is, or is he famously flip-flopping again?
