Royals manager Ned Yost wants All-Star voting to continue established pattern

The Royals were off when the second batch of All-Star votes was released by Major League Baseball on Monday. The results proved the first ballots, which had five Royals as starters, weren’t a fluke.

The same five players — catcher Salvador Perez, third baseman Mike Moustakas, shortstop Alcides Escobar and outfielders Lorenzo Cain and Alex Gordon — would start if the game was held today.

Second at their positions in the voting are first baseman Eric Hosmer, second baseman Omar Infante and designated hitter Kendrys Morales.

“Wow, I can’t believe that,” Escboar said when asked about his position atop the shortstops. “I’m so happy for that.”

Ned Yost will head the team as the manager of last season’s American League champions. He’d love to outfit a team of Royals.

“It shows you how great our fans are to put the work in and put them in that position,” Yost said. “Just keep them coming.”
