TV ratings for Royals games have been climbing this week.

On Monday, the Royals drew an 8.6 rating on Fox Sports Kansas City and it jumped to 9.9 on Tuesday. Wednesday’s game climbed to 10.1, the highest-rated TV program of the day in Kansas City, and the ninth-best rating on Fox Sports Kansas City this season.

That’s from Fox Sports Kansas City via Nielsen.

With the Royals on the cusp of clinching a playoff berth, Thursday night’s game against the White Sox in Chicago could be must-see TV in Kansas City.

Just as a matter of record, the Royals’ season-best TV rating was a 12.7 on Fox last Saturday for the game against the Tigers.

The highest-rated game on Fox Sports Kansas City this season was a 12.0 on Aug. 28 when the Royals played host to the Twins.

The best rating for a Royals game on Fox Sports Kansas City? That was Aug. 13, 2013 when the Royals took on Miami and the rating was a 12.3.

What could suppress the ratings tonight is the NFL game (Giants vs. Washington; ugh), college football (Texas Tech at Oklahoma State) and shows like “The Biggest Loser” and “Grey’s Anatomy.”

Still ... how many Royals fans have never seen their team clinch a playoff berth? A lot. It could happen Thursday. Here’s guessing there will be a lot of eyeballs on that game.
