Alcides Escobar takes batting practice, grounders
Royals shortstop Alcides Escobar took batting practice in the indoor cage and some ground balls on Wednesday, his first action since getting hit in the helmet by a pitch from the Indians’ Danny Salazar on April 29 in Cleveland.
Escobar has been on the disabled list since May 1 with concussionlike symptoms. Christian Colon has played shortstop and Orlando Calixte took Escobar’s spot on the roster.
Escobar will take an imPACT test on Thursday to determine his readiness to return.
He was hit on the earflap by a 96-mph fastball.
