Greg Holland completed a simulated inning on Saturday afternoon, and the Royals are hope their two-time All Star closer can be activated from the disabled list by Tuesday’s game against the Cleveland Indians.

Holland has been out since April 17 with a strained right pectoral muscle. He is eligible to rejoin the Royals on Tuesday. Holland indicated he felt no discomfort when he threw on Saturday.

“I felt really good,” Holland said. “It was exciting. I was able to execute most of my pitches. With that layoff, without really getting off the mound and facing hitters, it was very encouraging.”

Holland said he was “pretty confident that it’ll be sooner than later” that he returns to action. Manager Ned Yost shared this view.

“We’ll see how he bounces back from this,” Yost said.
