Royals-Tigers lineups for Friday night’s game

The Royals completed one of the best Aprils in their 47-year history.

Their 15-7 record heading into Friday’s game (7:10 p.m. on Fox Sports KC) against the Tigers matches the Astros for the best in the American League, so it’s no surprise that the Royals are at or near the top of several statistical categories.

They lead the American League in hitting at .306, with the top six in Friday’s batting order hitting over .300. They’ve also struck out the fewest times, 131.

The Royals rank second in team ERA at 3.10. The surprising Astros lead the AL at 3.10. The Royals bullpen’s 1.02 ERA ranks as baseball’s best.

No team in baseball has a run differential greater run differential than the Royals’ plus-45. It’s the best for one month for the Royals since 1980, when the Royals had a plus-53 in August.

As for Friday’s lineup, shortstop Alcides Escobar will sit another day because of concussion-like symptoms. Paulo Orlando returns to right field.
