On the television screen inside the visitors’ clubhouse at Progressive Field, a few hours before Kansas City fell to the Indians, a group of Royals watched their chief rivals in the American League Central erase a four-run deficit and set the stage for a division showdown this weekend at Kauffman Stadium.

On the screen, Tigers catcher James McCann completed an improbable, inside-the-park home run.

Salvador Perez narrated the action to a group that included Omar Infante, Alcides Escobar, Paulo Orlando and Yordano Ventura.

“Inside the park,” he said, shaking his head.

It is not surprising to note the Royals keep tabs on the Tigers, the rulers of the American League Central for the past four seasons.

Detroit enters a four-game series at Kauffman Stadium with a half-game advantage over Kansas City. It should be a fascinating series, with a potential for four consecutive sellout crowds.

Here are the matchups for the weekend:

Thursday, 7:10 p.m.: LHP Danny Duffy (1-0, 4.15 ERA) vs. RHP Alfredo Simon (4-0, 1.65 ERA).

Friday, 7:10 p.m.: RHP Chris Young (1-0, 1.86 ERA) vs. LHP Kyle Lobstein (2-1, 3.50 ERA).
