Second baseman Omar Infante could return to Royals’ lineup this weekend in Chicago
Royals second baseman Omar Infante on Tuesday afternoon fielded groundballs for the first time since straining a groin muscle on Sunday. The team considered him available in an emergency for Tuesday night’s game against the Minnesota Twins. Infante expressed his hope he could return to the starting lineup by Wednesday night’s series finale.
Manager Ned Yost indicated this goal might be a little ambitious. Infante may have to wait until this weekend in Chicago against the White Sox.
Infante said he feels much better than he did on Sunday. Yost initially feared Infante would require a stint on the disabled list.
With Infante out, Christian Colon has started at second base. Orlando Calixte is also available off the bench.
