Mike Sweeney’s Royals Hall of Fame induction set for Aug. 15

Mike Sweeney will be inducted into the Royals Hall of Fame before the team’s 6:10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, game against the Los Angeles Angels at Kauffman Stadium.

The first 10,000 fans who enter the gates for the game will receive a retro replica powder blue jersey.

The Royals also will give away a Sweeney bobblehead doll to the first 10,000 fans for the 1:10 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 6, home game vs. the Chicago White Sox.

It was announced during spring training that Sweeney, a five-time All-Star who set the club’s single-season RBI record with 144 in 2000, was elected to the team’s hall. He will become the 26th inductee.
