The infield is soaked at Surprise Stadium, and the grounds crew is working furiously to attempt to make it playable. Rain struck the valley on Wednesday night and continued into this morning. It is still falling as the Royals prepare to play the Rockies.

Manager Ned Yost was informed that the grounds crew could not place a tarp over the field last night because the desert heat would kill the grass. So now the field is something of a mess.

If the Royals do play, here is the lineup, with Jason Vargas on the mound:

1. Paulo Orlando, RF.

2. Christian Colon, 2B.

3. Lorenzo Cain, CF.

4. Eric Hosmer, 1B.

5. Kendrys Morales, DH.

6. Ryan Roberts, 3B.

7. Moises Sierra, LF.

8. J.C. Boscan, C.

9. Gabriel Noriega, SS.
