The Royals scratched Jeremy Guthrie from his start on Sunday against the Rockies as he recovered from a stomach virus.

Aaron Brooks will pitch for Kansas City in Guthrie’s place.

Guthrie reported to camp on Friday feeling better, but manager Ned Yost saw little reason to rush him back to action.

“It doesn’t affect anything,” Yost said. “We’ll catch up on it over the course of the next three weeks.”
