Eric Hosmer rejoined the Royals and reclaimed his post at first base for Monday’s game against the Rangers. The rest of the lineup was far more interesting: Billy Butler will sit on the bench, with Raul Ibanez as the designated hitter. And new arrival Carlos Peguero starts in right field.

Both Ibanez and Peguero are left-handed hitters who can pop a home run. They are facing Colby Lewis, a homer-prone right hander. And the Royals do need offense. Butler has hit .208/.345/.208 in seven games. Manager Ned Yost has not been shy this season about yanking playing time away from Butler during mini-slumps.

Here are the lineups as Yordano Ventura (10-9, 3.40 ERA) faces Colby Lewis (9-11, 5.44 ERA):

RANGERS (53-83)

1. Leonys Martin, CF.

2. Elvis Andrus, SS.

3. Alex Rios, RF.

4. Adrian Beltre, 3B.

5. Ryan Rua, DH.

6. Adam Rosales, 1B.

7. Tomas Telis, C.

8. Roughned Odor, 2B.

9. Michael Choice, LF.

ROYALS (74-61)

1. Jarrod Dyson, CF.

2. Omar Infante, 2B.

3. Alex Gordon, LF.

4. Salvador Perez, C.

5. Eric Hosmer, 1B.

6. Raul Ibanez, DH.

7. Carlos Peguero, RF.

8. Mike Moustakas, 3B.

9. Alcides Escobar, SS.
