Salvador Perez gets day off as Royals face Texas Rangers

Royals manager Ned Yost gave catcher Salvador Perez a choice. Perez could play either Saturday night at Globe Life Park, or handle Sunday’s matinee. Perez chose the latter.

So he will sit out as the Royals face the Rangers here this evening. Perez sat out on Wednesday due to discomfort in his right knee. Kansas City did not play on Thursday. So Perez is getting his first extended break in a while.
