I respect the fervor with which evangelical Christians fight abortion, as expressed in a recent letter in The Star.
Evangelicals I know feel strongly about a variety of critical social issues. I would suggest to single-issue voters that they evaluate candidates on the totality of their merit, competence and policy positions.
Vote for the total package. Then seek to persuade him or her to see your point of view and continue to advocate for what you believe is important. It’s less likely you can make a silk purse out of an extremely flawed sow’s ear, as the saying goes.

Teen driving
I am a student at Liberty High School and something that has come to my attention is teen driving. Are the roads safe from teens?
Car crashes are the number one cause of death for teens, and teens are four times more likely to get in a crash than 25-69 year olds, according to some statistics.
I personally witnesses reckless driving in the school parking lot every day. Irresponsible students swerving through the roads and speeding are clear examples of the dangers teens can cause.
These crashes are caused by distracted drivers, whether it’s from an electronic device or a friends in the backseat.
Teens need to aware of these dangers and the consequences for their carelessness. Stories of going 100 miles an hour and racing, can been heard around the school, and this needs to stop.
Parents need to be the No. 1 example of safe driving, and be strict on driving rules. Teens are susceptible to peer influence and impulsive driving because of their lack of experience.
For the safety of teens and surrounding drivers, let’s make the road a safer place.

There is no in between with Donald Trump. You either think he’s the answer or you believe he will make things much worse. What are these questions, and these things? America has lost a large portion of her soul.
We were strongly family oriented, had sound education, believed in God, and were resistant to blasphemy and perversions. We were free thinking, independent, and willing to face the good times and bad without government intervention. That has almost all changed within the last 24 years.
We have belittled normal family life in favor of supporting diverse and multicultural life styles. We argue for gay rights and promiscuous sex. We demand instant gratification without the time and work ethics it takes. We belittle traditional Christian beliefs, while pretending to accept some all encompassing world view that is without bounds so that none may be offended.
This is the real battle for America and the next four years will determine which view will prevail.
