Royals complex expected to be quiet when pitchers and catchers report

The Kansas City Star

The deadline for pitchers and catchers to report to Royals camp falls on Thursday. But the team’s complex will be quiet.

Manager Ned Yost instructed his players not to hold voluntary workouts. They will reconvene on Friday.

“With all the influx of everybody coming in tomorrow, we’ll just take it easy,” Yost said on Wednesday morning. “Everybody’s been here.”

The vast majority of key contributors to the club have already arrived. The list includes Alex Gordon, Greg Holland, Salvador Perez, Yordano Ventura, Eric Hosmer, Mike Moustakas, Jeremy Guthrie, Jason Vargas, Wade Davis, Kelvin Herrera, Luke Hochevar, Alex Rios, Erik Kratz and plenty of others.

Yost said he did not anticipate any players struggling with visa issues.

The schedule for Thursday will be limited to work for the coaching staff. Yost will meet with Joe Torre, MLB’s executive vice president for baseball operations, to discuss rule changes for 2015.
