What's Your KCQ?

Tell us: What do you wonder about the weather and storm season in Kansas City?

Curious about the difference between a tornado watch or a warning? How about how the size of hail is determined? Or maybe why Kansas City International Airport is the official reporting station for the metro?

“What’s your KCQ?” wants to know what you want to know about our Midwest weather. Our team wants to help answer any questions you have about the weather, especially in the Kansas City community.

For example, if you were curious about our hail question, the size is often estimated based on common objects, like a tennis ball, which is about 2 1/2 inches in diameter. While estimates are good, actual measurements using a ruler, calipers, or a tape measure are better.

Ask us your top-of-mind questions about the weather at kansascity.com/kcq or email kcq@kcstar.com.
