Free joints, a ‘munchie’ bar & Wiz Khalifa: 9 ways to celebrate 4/20 in Kansas City
Missouri’s first 4/20 after the legalization of recreational marijuana is just around the corner. The national weed holiday on April 20 dates back as far as 1971 and for decades has been an opportunity for smokers, non-smokers and general weed enthusiasts to celebrate cannabis culture.
Kansas City has a full slate of 4/20 events across the metro, from concerts and festivals to paint and pottery nights. There is a wide variety of events for all types of cannabis consumers to check out. Make sure you catch all the festivities.
If you’d rather celebrate on your own, here’s a guide to Kansas City’s dispensaries.
Smokey River 420 Fest
The 4/20 Fest will feature artists like Wiz Khalifa, Joey Bada$, Berner and Chevy Woods. The event will also have food and craft vendors like Schimeca’s Italian Sausage and Made Mobb. The festival will also be a first look at the land that will soon become the Smokey River Entertainment District. Construction for the cannabis-centric entertainment district won’t begin until 2024, according to the website.
The festival grounds is around 20 minutes from downtown Kansas City at 3703 North Cobbler Road in Independence. General admission tickets start at $59.50 and can be purchased here.
