How much rain did your area get in Kansas City storms? See rainfall totals

Storms that rolled through the Kansas City area Thursday dumped up to 2 inches of rain in parts of the metro, cutting short the FIFA Fan Festival at the National World War I Museum and Memorial and soaking the crowd at the Netherlands-Tunisia World Cup match at Kansas City Stadium.

But rain gauges across the Kansas City metro show that not every neighborhood saw the heaviest rain.

According to automated weather sensors at Kansas City International Airport (MCI), the official weather reporting station for the metro, only .61 inches of rain fell in the 24 hours ending at 9 a.m. Friday.

Meanwhile, the Kansas City Downtown Airport–Wheeler Field, which was closer to the World Cup festivities, saw 1.9 inches of rain during the same period.

In Kansas, .55 inches was reported at New Century AirCenter in Olathe and .04 inches at Johnson County Executive Airport in Olathe.

According to StormWatch, a collection of rain gauges across the metro, the heaviest rain fell in Johnson and Wyandotte counties, with 2.12 inches reported along College Boulevard at Mill Creek in Olathe and 1.84 inches reported at Kaw Point in Kansas City, Kansas.
