Weather alert in place for the Kansas City area until 1 a.m. Thursday

The National Weather Service issued a special weather statement at 11:28 p.m. on Wednesday until Thursday at 1 a.m. The alert is for Johnson, Jackson, Miami, Linn, Cass and Bates counties.
"Wind gusts of 40 mph up to 55 mph will be possible in areas of light showers or spinkles over the next hour or two," states the NWS.
This alert is in effect until Thursday at 1 a.m.
