Social media videos show flooding in Manhattan, Kansas, caused by heavy rain.

Monday night, approximately 1.5 inches of rain came down in Manhattan, Kansas, from 6 p.m. to just after 7 p.m., according to Kyle Poage, meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Topeka.

Poage said the precipitation “came down awfully fast, which caused some flooding in some streets in Manhattan.”

The National Weather Service collected social media footage of flash flooding and wind damage.

Just before 6:30 p.m., a wind gust knocked a 6-foot diameter tree limb into Leavenworth Street, according to NWS radar and photos from the public.

A Kansas State University student recorded a video showing cars driving through flood waters. The wake from the vehicles hit their wake hitting a flooded sidewalk just east of the K-State Campus, near Aggieville.

The National Weather Service said they saw a video on social media showing 8 inches of water on a road.
