Floodwaters inundated part of a neighborhood off Interstate 435 near Television Place on Monday after heavy rains drenched the Kansas City area.

The flooding appeared to be centered near East 23rd Trafficway and Television Place, which sits at the bottom of the hilly Blue Summit area. The high water closed roads in the area.

Vehicles could be seen abandoned in the floodwater, and the Fisca gas station was swamped by the water. The nearby business Pallet Rack KC also took on some water on part of its property.

A Kansas City spokeswoman referred a reporter with questions about the flooding to the Missouri Department of Transportation. MoDOT representatives did not immediately respond to a request for comment Monday afternoon.
