Strong winds, flooding and heavy thunderstorms headed for KC. What we know
Another round of severe thunderstorms could bring strong wind and rain Sunday evening into Monday before a week of sun and spring temperatures.
The National Weather Service has put the KC metro under an enhanced risk for severe weather, according to a NWS post on X. Heavy rainfall that can lead to flash flooding is also possible, especially north, northeast and northwest of the metro, according to the NWS. A flood watch is in effect from 7 p.m. Sunday to 7 p.m. Monday. Between a half and three-quarters of an inch of rain is expected in the metro overnight.
Showers and thunderstorms are expected to seep into Monday, with the possibility of storms before 1 p.m., and between that and 4 p.m., according to the forecast. It will be warmer, with a high of 79 and wind gusts of up to 29 mph.
Temperatures are expected to drop to an overnight low around 46 on Monday, bringing with it a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms.
