Hail, some larger than baseballs, pounded parts of the Kansas City metro Tuesday evening, damaging vehicles as severe, rotating thunderstorms raced across the area.
Kansas City’s Northland was the hardest hit when the first round of storms moved through around 6 p.m.

Meanwhile, there were reports of hail larger than 3 inches in Parkville and areas east of Lake Waukomis and south of Weatherby Lake.
Baseball-sized hail, around 2.75 inches, was reported near Parkville, Platte Woods and Kansas City North. Other areas that saw hail 2 inches or larger included the area near Missouri 152 and North Oak Trafficway in Kansas City North, as well as near Staley High School.
South of the Missouri River, large hail was reported as a line of storms moved through after 9:30 p.m.
Areas that reported hail over 1.25 inches in diameter included parts of Olathe, Corporate Woods, Raytown and Grandview.
Here’s a map of where hail was reported.
