Minimal to no snow accumulation is expected around Kansas City during winter weather impacting post-Thanksgiving travel this weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

While Kansas City will likely not see much snow this weekend, it will get rain and cold temperatures. The forecast shows that temperatures will be around 44 degrees by noon Saturday, before falling to near 35 degrees in the afternoon and evening.

It’s expected to be a windy day Saturday for Kansas City, with gusts reaching 37 miles per hour, the forecast shows.

Snow is, however, impacting ares in northwest, north central and northeast Missouri Saturday. For those regions, rain and snow mix is already on the ground and there is a winter weather advisory in effect.

Snow accumulation could be between one and three inches in areas north of Highway 36, the forecast shows.

Anyone planning to travel in Missouri Saturday should prepare for slick road conditions, the weather service said.

“Expect difficult travel in north-central and northeast Missouri today,” the weather service said on Facebook Saturday.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol advised drivers Saturday to check the Missouri Department of Transportation Traveler Information Map for up-to-date road conditions.

Saturday’s overnight low in Kansas City is expected to be near 21 degrees. Wind gusts as high as 34 miles per hour are possible, the forecast shows.

Then Sunday, Kansas City will have a partly sunny day with a sub-freezing high temperature near 29 degrees. Wind will be mild Sunday, around 6 miles per hour becoming light and variable in the evening.

When will KC get snow?

While this weekend will be wet and cold for Kansas City, Monday will be the first chance for snow accumulation, the forecast shows.

Meteorologists are monitoring snowfall predictions across northern Missouri Monday, but the location could shift considerably, the weather service said.

As of Saturday, the forecast shows snow possible around Kansas City mostly after noon Monday. Early snowfall predictions are around an inch with a 60% chance of precipitation, the forecast shows.
