Soggy day ahead for KC with all-day rain showers before weekend warm up

Friday will be a cloudy, wet day as rain showers linger around Kansas City for most of the day, according to the National Weather Service.

Those commuting Friday morning will want to bring a jacket or umbrella since showers are expected to be heaviest before 10 a.m., the weather service said.

Areas of the metro will also see dense fog, which is expected to dissipate by late-morning. Temperatures will be cooler Friday than earlier this week. Friday’s high is forecast near 51 degrees.

North of Interstate 70, people will see steady light showers throughout the day, especially east of Interstate 35, the weather service said.

South of Interstate 70, showers will be more intermittent, with showers increasing in frequency throughout the afternoon and evening.

Rainfall totals are predicted to be around a half and three quarters of an inch, meteorologists said in a Friday morning forecast discussion. No severe weather is expected, and flooding concerns remain low.

Warm weather for Chiefs game Sunday

More storms will develop Friday evening as the system shifts east, the weather service said on social media.

Overnight, patchy fog will form again in some parts of the metro. The overnight low is expected to be near 38 degrees.

Starting Saturday, Kansas City is expected to get a break from the rain. The weekend is forecast to be sunny with calm winds.

Saturday’s high temperature is forecast near 58 degrees. The overnight low Saturday is expected to be near 43 degrees.

The weekend’s mild weather brings warmer temperatures Sunday. With sunny skies, Kansas City could reach 61 degrees for a comfortable November Chiefs game day.

Then, a chance of rain will return Sunday night into Monday, the forecast shows. Light showers are likely after midnight Monday, with less than a tenth of an inch possible overnight, according to the National Weather Service.
