Cloudy Thursday before chance of showers in KC. How much rain is possible?
Northwest Missouri will be impacted by clouds and fog early Thursday before rain chances arrive in Kansas City, according to the National Weather Service.
Pockets of dense fog developed early Thursday, mostly north of Interstate 70. Drivers in the area Thursday morning should plan for extra drive time, the weather service said on social media.
The fog is expected to dissipate by mid-morning, but clouds will linger in the region all day. High temperatures Thursday are expected to be in the upper 50s to low 60s, but could remain cooler because of cloud cover.
How much rain is possible?
A stronger system arriving from the southwest will bring greater chances of widespread rain to Kansas City late Thursday night through Friday, the forecast shows.
An umbrella may be nice to have Thursday evening and Friday, when the chance for rain is around 90%, according to the forecast.
Meteorologists expect half an inch to one and a half inches of rain Friday, with the highest totals possible north of I-70 and south of Missouri 36 Highway. Flooding concerns for the region are low.
Friday’s high temperature will be near 57 degrees, the forecast shows.
Rain is expected to taper off late Friday into Saturday. To begin the weekend, temperatures will remain above normal for this time of year. Saturday is expected to be in the high 50s to low 60s, according to the forecast.
