Storms coming to Kansas City before weekend brings fall temps
Friday will begin sunny and warm for the Kansas City area before a chance of showers and storms in the evening, according to the National Weather Service.
A fall cold front will move southeast into the metro and trigger a broken line of storms, the weather service said on social media. A few of those storms could be strong with gusty winds and small hail.
Showers and thunderstorms Friday are most likely after 5 p.m., the forecast shows. The high temperature is expected to be near 84 degrees.
Storms could continue overnight into the early morning hours of Saturday, between 7 p.m. and 4 a.m., the forecast shows.
Widespread rain isn’t likely, and the chance of precipitation is around 60% Friday into Saturday morning, according to the weather service. Severe weather is not expected.
Brief showers are possible Saturday afternoon. Saturday will be mostly sunny with a high near 79 degrees, the forecast shows. Saturday night’s low is expected to be near 48 degrees.
Fall temperatures ahead for KC
This month, high temperatures have consistently been 15-20 degrees above normal for this time of year, according to the weather service.
On Sunday, fall temperatures are expected to arrive in Kansas City. A cold front moving into the area will bring temperatures closer to seasonal norms next week, the weather service said.
Sunday will be sunny with a high temperature near 65 degrees, according to the forecast. Sunday’s overnight low will be near 54 degrees, the forecast shows.
Monday, temperatures will warm up slightly, with the high expected to be in the mid-70s.
