Spotty showers are possible in KC, and more storms are likely later. Here’s when
Although the Kansas City area will likely stay dry on Thursday, spotty afternoon showers cannot be ruled out, according to the National Weather Service.
Skies will be mostly cloudy, keeping the weather on the cool side. Temperatures in the metro area are expected to climb to around 75 degrees. Kansas City typically sees temperatures around 82 degrees this time of year.
More widespread storms are expected to push into the area after midnight, with the storm system tracking east across southern Kansas into southern Missouri, the weather service said.
“Given the anticipated track, the best chances for storms will be the southern half of the forecast area, mainly along and south of the Missouri River,” the weather service said.
The threat of severe weather is low. Any severe weather is likely to occur south of the forecast area.
Temperatures on Friday are expected to be in the upper 70s.
Storms are possible in KC’s weekend forecast
The uncertain weather pattern continues into the weekend.
On Wednesday night, the forecast for Saturday indicated dry weather. However, as of Thursday morning, there is a chance of rain in the morning, with a slight chance of rain in the afternoon, according to the weather service.
“And now Sunday looks mostly dry,” the weather service said.
An isolated strong to potentially severe storm is possible Saturday morning into the afternoon as a complex of storms moves across southern Missouri, the weather service said. Additional storms could occur in the afternoon.
Strong winds are possible on Saturday morning. Hail and strong winds will be possible with the afternoon storms.
Temperatures are expected to be around 80 degrees on Saturday and 83 degrees on Sunday.
More rain is expected to start the workweek
A stronger weather system is expected to move through on Monday, bringing the chance of showers and storms as a cold front passes.
Temperatures are expected to be around 81 degrees on Monday.
An area of high pressure will then move in, bringing drier weather and normal temperatures in the middle of next week.
