Kansas City could have its first 90-degree day. Will rain spoil end of week?
Warm weather is expected to prevail this week across Kansas City as the metro could see its first 90-degree temperatures of the year, according to the National Weather Service.
Above-average temperatures are expected throughout the week, beginning with the low 80s on Monday and the mid-80s on Tuesday, according to the weather service. Typically, Kansas City’s temperatures are around 74 degrees this time of the year.
The warmest day of the week is expected to arrive on Wednesday, when temperatures could climb to 90 degrees. The last time Kansas City was this hot was on Oct. 12, when temperatures reached 90 degrees.
Temperatures will be in the mid-80s on Thursday and Friday.
Rain in Kansas City’s forecast
The weather service said there is a chance for scattered showers and a few isolated thunderstorms on Monday and Tuesday afternoon, primarily east of the Kansas City area. No severe storms are expected.
There is a chance for rain on Thursday into Friday across northeast Missouri, but the showers and thunderstorms might pass to the east and north of the Kansas City forecast area, according to the weather service.
The metro has a higher chance of rain over the weekend, but the forecast remains uncertain. According to the weather service, some forecast models have showers and storms missing from the Kansas City area.
The weather service said that other models have multiple storm systems passing over the same areas for 72 hours, particularly in west-central Missouri along Missouri 52 south of the metro.
