Overnight severe storms soaked Kansas City. How much rain fell in your neighborhood?

Two waves of strong-to-severe thunderstorms pushed through the Kansas City area early Wednesday, drenching parts of the metro, according to rainfall data.

As much as 1 to 1 1/2 inches of rain fell across the metro, according to a rainfall map from the National Weather Service. Some areas saw heavier amounts.

At Kansas City International Airport, just over an inch of rain was reported in the 24 hours ending at 7 a.m. Meanwhile, the Wheeler Downtown Airport recorded 1.41 inches of rain during the same period.

In Johnson County, Executive Airport in Olathe reported .62 of an inch of rain while the New Century AirCenter in Olathe had .67 of an inch.

Across the state line in Missouri, Lee’s Summit Municipal Airport received 0.61 of an inch of rain.

Some of the higher rainfall totals occurred in Kansas City’s Northland, where between 1 and 1 1/2 inches fell, according to rainfall data from StormWatch.com, a collection of rain gauges across the Kansas City metro. The rainfall total was for the 24 hours ending at 11:15 a.m. Wednesday.

Southern Overland Park and parts of southeast Kansas City also saw around an inch of rain.
